More Signage

Posters I'm working on for Paige

I'm doing a series of illustrative posters inspired by popular sayings. There will be 6 in the series. Here's a couple I've almost finished up.

I Google Street Viewed the entrance of the center and I realized you it's kind of in the middle of nowhere.



It would be very easy to miss this small directional sign
(Which you can see in the screen grab above^)



Main Entrance:



The entrance sign would be more noticeable if it stood alone in the yard or if it were above the gate.



As you can see, from the photos below, the signage within the center lacks continuity. There are multiple fonts and graphic styles being used.

Being this is a first impression, what information
needs to be conveyed to the “user”?

There needs to be an entrance sign and also a series of directional signs that can be easily read and are similar in style. People go to the center to walk around and view/learn about the animals residing there, so they need to know where to go/where they are and they need to know what they’re looking at.

Observe the existing signage or lack there of and
what problems might exist with the current signage.

There needs to be a consistency in the signage. The graphics on the train and various signs around the center are totally different from the logo. A variety of fonts are currently used as well.

Create a rough map/diagram and note where the signage
could be improved or implemented in the exterior area.

Directional Billboard.
Larger Entrance sign separate from the gate.

Go through the same evaluation in the main entrance
and then identify secondary interior signage needs.

Directional signs which are consistent in style.

Make a list and a rough diagram of what signage
needs to be designed and where it will go.

Exterior Signage
Entrance sign (Next to/Above the gate)
Directional billboard (Across the street facing drivers coming from either direction)

Interior Signage
Way finding system/ Directional signs
Animal/Species informational signs
